Ebrima Janko Solo Touray, popularly known as Kombonka, the king of Manding rap, will release a new album on March 11, 2023, at Q-City, The Gambia. The album is called “Silakang,” which is Mandingo’s word for “streets.” His first album, Yalong Ngallong, was awarded the album of the year at the 2022 Wah Sa Halat Music Awards. Kombonka’s second album, “Silakang,” is set to release on February 24, 2023. The album contains 12 tracks and a total of 38 minutes and 44 seconds of listening. This well-produced and lyrically outstanding album includes collaborations with Senegambian superstars such as Jizzle, Kaby, Attack, and Gambian King of Kora, Jaliba Kuyateh.

Malang Fatty, CEO of GSC Records, is the executive producer of this culturally distinct album. Some of the instrument players who worked on the album include Ansumana Suso, a renowned Gambian Kora, and Balafong maestro; Ibou Mbaye, a Senegalese keyboard player; Nigerian guitarist Femi Leye, and Romanian violinist Joylin.

Kombonka’s music blends the local Senegambian instruments and rhythms with hip-hop and its subgenres, such as trap and drill. His first album, Yalong Ngalong, landed him more than 15,000 fans across the world. The album also won the Album of the Year in 2022, as well as Best Hip Hop Artist of the Year. Aside from the album, which was inspired by his backway journey song “Silakang,” it also discusses the daily struggles of African youth. However, there are a few songs to lighten up the mood and
keep listeners on their feet.
